Land Reform office targets 20T hectares to be given out in Negros By Roberto L. Bacasong
TALABAN, Himamaylan City - The Department of Land Reform (DLR) is targeting the distribution of 20,000 hectares of land to farmer beneficiaries in Negros Occidental.
This was disclosed by Alexis Arsenal, DLR regional director, who added that the province is one of the active provinces in the country in the giving out of Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to farmers.
As of the first quarter of this year, DLR records showed that 1,310 parcels of land have been distributed through Compulsory Acquisition, Voluntary Offer to Sell and Voluntary Land Transfer.
"We are hoping to achieve our target distribution by the end of this year," said Arsenal.
Arsenal, on the other hand, identified the cities of Sagay and La Carlota and the municipalities of Moises Padilla and La Castellana as localities where intense land dispute occur.
He said they are negotiating with landowners to help resolve conflicts arising from land distribution.
