'Jose Pidal' the movie?
By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan

TALKS milling around Manila, especially in the entertainment circle reveal plans to make a movie on the life of Representative Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo, Jr. of the 5th District of Negros Occidental.

The solon is known as the famous "Jose Pidal" in the exposes of Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson on the alleged questionable bank accounts of First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.

A producer reportedly wanted to make a film on Jose Pidal, citing the solon's track records in his approaching one year in public service.

When asked who is his top choice to portray his life, the solon has become speechless as if he was shocked by the information. His sister Marilou Arroyo-Lesaca later told him to choose the famous actor-sportsman Richard Gomez.

The Arroyo siblings, however, did not elaborate further why they want Gomez to be the Iggy in the movie. Iggy, a neophyte solon in Negros Occidental, spelled a lot of achievements in his stint.

He was known for his deeds of facilitating with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration on the repatriation of overseas worker Liezl Gustilo from Tagda, Hinigaran who escaped from her employer in Kuwait due to maltreatment.

The solon has also become famous on the rescue of 21 "muro ami" recruits from Binalbagan town in the Palawan-South China Sea.

He was also instrumental in the rescue of three Negrense women who were duped into sex slaves in Malaysia and also a minor from Isabela town who was forced to work in a prostitution den in Roxas City, Capiz.

And, the most recent, Iggy also made possible the repatriation of Benjie Ablao from Binalbagan town who worked as a designer in Riyadh but was hospitalized and not allowed by his employer to return to work.
