He's 'problematic,' 'hooked' to drugs
HINIGARAN -- Former Army Sgt. Salvador Pedregosa was allegedly a "problematic" man.
His behavior was allegedly eminent while he was still in service and became worse when he was discharged from service in the Philippine Army sometime last year.
This was probably the cause why he went berserk Sunday dawn that resulted also to his death later on, said Senior Insp. Regidor Alvarado, town police chief.
Based on their investigation, Alvarado said Pedregosa was allegedly hooked to drugs lately.
He was also a known "troublemaker" at Sitio Tanulo, Barangay San Vicente, Binalbagan.
Army Maj. Lyndon Sollesta, spokesman of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division based in Camp Macario Peralta, Jamindan, Capiz shared also almost the same background of Pedregosa.
In a telephone interview, Sollesta said Pedregosa was formerly assigned at the First Scout Ranger Regiment under the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) based in Camp Tecson, Tarlac City, Tarlac.
It was also reported that almost everyday, Pedregosa was drunk and created trouble in their place. He also often castigates his wife.
His uncle Army Sgt. Richard Grande then started keeping his wife and children every time he runs amok.
"That's why he probably harbored an ill feeling against his uncle," Alvarado perceived.
But as to the case of his policeman-friend SPO2 Nicasio Vicedo, Alvarado said "I can't ascertain yet what was really behind their friendship and why did the former army killed his friend. (EASD/RBL)
