Rice orders worth P5.1M steamed dry By Roberto L. Bacasong
FOR eight months, the Rascos had been ordering rice from various dealers but had not been paying for them. One day, they found their debts reaching P5.1 million.
Faced with estafa charges filed by the people they owe money to, Analie and Rodrigo Rasco of Purok Greenfield, Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City fled the city. They brought their children with them to Manila.
The P5.1 million covers unsettled accounts from February to October this year, Police Station 8 investigator Narciso Orbegoso Jr. said Sunday.
Orbegoso showed reporters Copies of the estafa complaints filed by Edilberto de Jose, 63, Damiana Rebalde, 26, Myrna Castillo, 53, Anthony Paderna, 32, and Lita Beton, 46, all from Purok Sunflower; Rosalia Jornalin, 43, Nora Perez, Nelly Villar, Gemma Maligad, 35, Ma. Fe Tulbo, 36, Joel Perez, 36, Joyce Perez, 45, Daisy Regalado, 31, of Purok Greenfield, and Judith Pamposa, 35, Alicia Baludo, 45, of Purok Kapawa, Lily Mondragon, 37, of Ramylu Village - all from Barangay Tangub, Bacolod City; and Riis Carmona, 29, of Barangay Taloc, Bago City. Analie owed Baludio the biggest, at P1.7 million.
The sum represented 40 sacks of rice worth P52,000 ordered last Oct. 5, 100 sacks worth P122,400 last Oct. 6, 100 sacks worth P130,000 last Oct. 7, 70 sacks worth P84,000 last Oct. 10, 50 sacks worth P60,000 last Oct. 11, 25 sacks worth P30,200 last Oct. 13, 140 sacks worth P178,400 last Oct. 13, 135 sacks worth P167,920 last Oct. 15, another 135 sacks worth P65,600 last Oct. 17, 50 sacks worth P63,200 last Oct. 18, 140 sacks worth P179,200 last Oct. 18, another 140 sacks worth P178,000 last Oct. 19, 60 sacks worth P78,000 last Oct. 20 and 150 sacks worth P172,500 last Oct. 20.
Rebalde told PO3 Orbegoso that Analie failed to pay her Oct. 3-16 rice orders amounting to P87,500.
Carmona, a rice dealer from Bago City, said Analie owed her P161,000 for 141 sacks ordered on Oct. 5 and 14.
Jornalin said Analie ordered 28 sacks of rice worth P28,840 last Oct. 15 but hasn't paid for them.
Nora Perez said Analie still owes her P21,100.
Villar still has to collect P6,180 from Analie.
Other complainants with whom Analie has unsettled accounts:
Maligad--75 sacks worth P77,250 last July and another P37,000 in August, totalling P114,250. Tulbo--34 sacks worth P35,000 last Sept. 21. Paderna--57 sacks from Oct. 5-12, totalling P74,100. Beton--642 sacks of rice worth P802,500 and nine sacks of charcoal worth P855 from Sept. 17 to Oct. 17, totalling P880,355. Joel Perez--100 bags worth P131,000 last Oct. 6, another 100 sacks worth P127,000 last Oct. 11, and 100 sacks worth P120,000 last Oct. 12, totalling P378,500.
Joyce Perez--196 sacks worth P245,000 and 90 sacks worth P120,000, totalling P365,000. Mondragon, De Jose, Regalado and Pamposa still have to recover their P695,000, P141,450, P134,640 and P13,390 respectively from the Rascos.
