Five caught for murder of former Judge's grandson

FIVE persons are now being detained in the Cadiz Police Station for charges of murder of a former judge's grandson.

The victim was Michael Adelantar, 20 and resident of Barangay Tiglawigan, Cadiz City. He is the grandson of former Judge Adelino Ledesma.

Police investigator SPO1 Melzazar Tayco said that the incident started during a benefit dance sponsored by the Barangay Tiglawigan High School last Sunday night.

SPO1 Tayco said the victim have had a heated argument with a group of youngsters over a certain girl, a friend of the victim, who was allegedly sexually harassed by one of the suspects.

They were later pacified.

At past midnight, the victim together with his peers went home not knowing that they are being trailed by the group whom they got entangled with earlier.

The victim separated from his peers in which the suspects then took advantage. The victim was allegedly ganged up, his head was hit by a stone.

He was also stabbed by a "binsol" (spear-like object found in the tail of a stingray) in the left breast.

Immediately, he was brought to the Cadiz Emergency Clinic but was transferred to the Cadiz City District Hospital.

Later, he was again transferred to Silay City District Hospital at 4 a.m. Monday morning.

The injuries proved to be fatal that they decided to transfer the victim to Riverside Hospital, but it was too late as the victim died at past 4 a.m.

The witness, a girl whose name is being withheld by Sun.Star, identified five of the eight suspects that are now detained at the Cadiz Police Station.

The suspects were Nestor Garcia Jr, 23; Chris Magalona, 20; Jomar Sayam, 19; Renante Dawa, 39; and Alan Ribo, 20. They are residents of Barangay Tiglawigan, Cadiz city.

Three other suspects remain unidentified and at-large.

The family of the victim are now in the process of filing charges of murder against the suspects.
