Indian national 'rapes' housemaid

AN INDIAN national is now being hunted by the police for allegedly raping his house helper last Thursday.

The 18-year-old victim, according to the report of the police Women and Children's Concerns Desk (WCCD), was asked by her employer to go shopping with him to Bacolod City.

Instead, upon reaching Bacolod, her employer took her to his apartment along Lacson St. and allegedly raped her.

The employer was identified as Dante Singh. He reportedly has a lending business in the town of Pontevedra, where the victim also lives.

But when WCCD chief Senior Inspector Sara Jane Recla checked with the local immigration office, there was no Indian national named Dante Singh recorded in their files.

Still, a rape case is now being readied against the suspect who has eluded the police.

Recla and her operatives searched Singh's house in Pontevedra and the apartment on Lacson St. to no avail.

In a radio Bombo-Radyo interview last night, the mother of the victim, though, confirmed that Singh contacted them and offered them "tulong" (help).

As to what kind of help Singh was offering, the mother did not say but stressed that they would not agree to any settlement.

The victim, who was confirmed to have lacerations in her private parts, is now under the custody of the WCCD. (RLB)
