Czars for major crimes created
By Ryan B. Lachica

TO BOOST the campaign in the reduction of the crime rate in the province, the Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) created "czars" to handle major crimes.

Senior Supt. Charles Calima Jr., said each czar will focus his attention only on one specific type of crime.

The provincial director said this way, the task of solving criminality would be much easier as the police works would be more focused on finding ways and means to solve the particular problems that will be assigned to the czar.

The Provincial Anti-Illegal Task Force (PAITAF), which focuses on serious crimes, is different from the designation of czars since they (czars) concentrate and are responsible only on per-crime basis.

Calima designated Senior Insp. Rone Grajo to loose firearms; Senior Insp.

Leonardo Angcon for illegal gambling; Senior Insp. Rosauro Francisco for the campaign against wanted persons; Senior Insp. Gary Alan Resuma to illegal drugs; and Senior Insp. Martin Vicente Ogatis for unsolved cases.

The Intelligence division will be headed by Insp. Robert Dejucos; Counter-Intelligence by Supt. Armando Delearna and Legal matters by Atty. Laila Presaldo.

The team will be operational and ready to take action on the first day of January 2006.
