Oplan 'Simbang Gabi' launched By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan
THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will implement its "Oplan Simbang Gabi" starting Dec. 16, the start of the Christmas nine-day novena prior to the day of the birth of Jesus Christ.
BCPO Director Pedro Merced said every church in the city will be guarded by the City Police Mobile Group and cops from the precincts.
The new police Nissan Terranos will also be used to patrol the areas at the start of the Simbang Gabi, which is usually at 4 a.m., until it is finished.
This is to discourage snatchers, pickpockets and holduppers in the areas.
Police also urged the public to keep their cellular phones inside their bags while attending the Simbang Gabi.
Merced said the downtown area will also be guarded by them to give protection to shoppers rushing for Christmas sales.
