Boy accuses cop of shooting him in legs
By Ryan B. Lachica

A TEENAGER accused a member of the 6th Regional Mobile Group of shooting him in the leg Thursday night.

The victim, Myko Mijares, 16, sustained a gunshot wound in his left leg outside the vicinity of Victorias Milling Company.

He was rushed at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital for treatment, Friday at early dawn.

According to PO1 Joy Dellaga, Women and Children's Complaints Desk (WCCD) Victorias City, the victim with four peers was roaming near the VMC at 11:30 p.m.

Allegedly one of the victim's friends decided to steal scrap iron in the Engineering Department of VMC.The group then decided to go inside the VMC compound.

The security guards however became wary of the groups motive and called for back up.

The 6th RMG troopers were the first to arrive since they were near VMC because a nearby village, Canetown Subdivision, was celebrating fiesta that night and they were deployed for security.

Upon seeing the RMG, the teeners panicked and scampered. A gun was then fired, which hit Mijares.

Mijares, of Purok Pusod Gamay, Barangay 19A, claimed that a member of the RMG was the one who shot him.

PO1 Dellaga on the other hand said not to be conclusive. "The investigation is still going on," said PO1 Dellaga.

She added that the ballistic examination has not come out yet to establish what kind of firearm was used and that the investigation will include the security guards.

"Once we finish the investigation, all responsible persons will be properly charged," said PO1 Dellaga.
