Capitol, City employees to receive P10T more in Christmas bonus By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan and Roberto L. Bacasong
GOOD news to all City and Provincial Government employees. They will be P10,000 richer this week.
This, after the City Council and the Provincial Board approved Wednesday the proposed Supplemental Budget for City and Capitol employees, respectively.
The City Council approved the release of P21.9 million for the City employees' extra cash gift while the SP approved the release of P39,659,442.72.
In the province's P39,659,442.72 supplemental budget, it already included the P21,3000,000 intended for the extra-Christmas bonus of about 2,000 Capitol employees.
City Treasurer head Florentino Guanco confirmed that the budget for the bonus is available for augmentation to the employees.
Guanco said the total budget was taken from the Personnel Benefit Fund, which amounted P20 million; and P1.9 million from the Bonus of Various Offices.
City Budget Officer Luzviminda Treyes cited that the amount of P1.9 million was sourced out from collection of the three public markets: North Market - P90,768; Central Market - P66,066; South Market - P67,980 and Vendor's Plaza - P5,082.
Governor Joseph Marañon said the giving of extra-Christmas bonus for their employees is in accordance with the latest pronouncement of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo that, "any local government units can give extra-Christmas bonus depending on the availability of their savings."
Sources of fund for the Capitol's extra cash gift are savings from the subsidy from General Fund, interest income, Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) differential for 2005, reversion of appropriation and
rehabilitation of Provincial Nursery.
On the last week of November, the province had also released the 13th month pay of the employees including the P5,000 which represents the year-end bonus.
