Penro to be relocated By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan
THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is mulling to relocate the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (Penro).
The agency's present location is beside the National Food Authority (NFA) headquarters along Gatuslao street. The province plans to have it relocated in front of the Provincial Administration Center. Gov. Joseph Marañon said, "This will pave the way to negotiate the area for potential investment including the cleared pala-pala area at the back of the Old Capitol building."
Marañon said that the vacant space beside the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Center (NOMPAC) will be the area to be utilized for Penro relocation.
Aside from Penro, the area will also hold the proposed new building for the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
The governor said that he is amenable with the proposal of NBI-Bacolod officer-in-charge Philip Pecache to have their own building to accommodate and serve well their daily clients.
The NBI, however, will be the one to shoulder the expenses for the construction of the building while the provincial government will only provide the location.
