Petromax explodes, burns woman's face By Ryan B. Lachica
A WOMAN suffered burn injuries after a kerosene-fueled lamp (Petromax) burst into flames in front of her Monday night.
The incident happened at Doņa Juliana Subdivision, Bacolod City Monday night.
The victim, Rose Bulonia, 29, married, suffered first and second burns in her face, neck and hands.
She was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for treatment and is presently recuperating in the burn room.
Her husband, Diomedes Bulonia, 46, said his wife is inexperience in handling the lamp caused the trouble.
Prior to the incident, the couple was preparing to install the stall of their small business - selling pork barbecue - at the Rotonda of Doņa Juliana at 6:15 p.m.
The nearby streetlight, however, was not working so the couple had to resort to other source of light, the petromax.
Diomedes went home and left his wife to tend to the stall as he had to get something in their house. That is when the incident happened.
The family is now appealing to people with kind hearts to help them in their expenses.
"The cream used for treating her burns cost P2,000, but we have no money as I am left with her to attend to her need in the hospital and to our children, the husband said.
As of now, he said, they are relying on the donations of their relatives.
