Marijuana cigarettes seized in Bacolod, Dolid
ABOUT a hundred sticks and packs of dried marijuana leaves were seized in two separate raids in Bacolod City and Valladolid town Wednesday.
The operations also led to the arrest of two suspected drug pushers.
Collared by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea)-Negros Occidental Field Office in a drug buy-bust operation was Eduardo Mondes of Purok 5 Tahong, Barangay Magsungay, Bacolod City.
Mondes was cornered by the operatives and surrendered to Pdea Agent Arnold Yunsay 103 sticks of dried marijuana leaves weighing about 51 grams, one small plastic pack of dried marijuana fruiting tops with an estimated weight of 10 grams.
Pdea Negros Chief Joemarie Occeño said Mondes has been the subject of their surveillance operation for almost one month prior to Wednesday's raid.
Mondes is now detained at Police Precinct 8 in Barangay Tangub.
All the items recovered from his possession were submitted to Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory at the Bacolod City Police Office for chemical examination.
Pdea is set to file criminal complaints against Mondes for illegal possession and selling of prohibited drugs today.
In Valladolid, Symas Ordinario alias Biboy, 22, of Purok 1, Barangay Palaka was arrested by a team led by Valladolid Police Chief Rico Santotome at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Recovered from his possession were two packs of dried marijuana leaves wrapped in ordinary paper and two P20 bills, which were used as marked money.
His elder brother Calleb Ordinario alias Nonoy, who was also subject of the search warrant issued by Judge Manuel Limsiaco Jr. was able to elude arrest.
In a follow-up search and seizure operation, the police also recovered another 92 knot-tied sticks of marijuana cigarettes and one small plastic pack of marijuana seed in the Ordinario residence.
The Ordinarios, Santotome said, were tagged as members of the newly-formed "Palaka Drug Ring" in the town.
The younger Ordinario, meanwhile, is now detained at Valladolid Police Office and would be charged in court for drug possession, said Santotome. (EASD)
