Radio station promotes womanhood
By Roberto L. Bacasong

IN ITS pursuit to change the landscape of FM (frequency modulation) radios in the country, Mom's Radio Wednesday entered into agreement with 17 partner-organizations in a ceremony held at the L'Fisher Hotel, Bacolod City.

Linnie Mayoralgo-Dinopol, executive producer of Mom's Radio, said they are aiming to empower the country's radio industry specifically the FM radio stations.

Congratulations to the graduates of 2006! Post your graduation experiences and greetings here.

Dinopol said Mom's Radio is dedicated in building a community with the help of the different non-government organizations as well as in the government.

Under the memorandum of agreement (MOA), the first party shall continue with its programs on the education and empowerment of the women particularly the mothers. The first party shall provide its program, broadcast standards requirements to generate listeners.

The first party shall provide its programs, the various information, talent, services and programs of the second party, which are deemed necessary to be informative to its listeners.

The second party shall provide the first party information, talent and services during the Morning Chat Programs and the Afternoon Chat programs deemed necessary by the former in the enhancement of its program.

Mom's Radio is a recipient of the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) as Best Educational Radio Program and in the Golden Dove Awards.

CMMA recognizes exemplary works in the Philippine media established in 1978 by the Archdiocese of Manila thru the late Jaime Cardinal Sin. Its aim was to stress the importance of mass media in instilling a sense of responsibility among communicators.

Dinopol said Mom's Radio is aired in six key strategic cities, namely, Cebu and Bacolod in the Visayas, Davao and Cagayan de Oro in Mindanao, Laoag and Vigan in Northern Luzon. It is owned and operated by Southern Broadcasting Network (SBN). True to its catchy slogan, "It's all about you!" Mom's Radio was designed with women in mind.

Dinopol said most of their programs were done in a live anchors conduct live on-air discussions "of a wide-range of topics from health care to nutrition, from cooking to beauty tips, from mundane issues such as removing stains from silverware to esoteric issues such as browsing the web".

Dinopol added that Mom's Radio has created significant, positive and empowering difference in the lives of their growing number of listeners.

SBN as a single proprietorship in 1970, this once obscure network gained national recognition as the first UHF television station to air in Metro Manila in 1992. It has grown into a network of four television stations, six FM radio stations and one AM radio station.

Among those organizations that inked partnership with Mom's Radio include the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Bossom Care, Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, the Media Advocate for Reproductive Health and Empowerment (Marhe), the Philippine Pediatric Society Negros Occidental and Western Visayas Chapter, Soroptimist International, among others.
