Nofa bares rules for player transfer
FOLLOWING its adoption and implementation of "club membership" in the association, the Negros Occidental Football Association (Nofa) headed by Fourth District Representative Charlie 0. Cojuangco (Negros Occidental) has started to implement rules covering the transfer of players particularly at the start of the forthcoming summer tournament season when Nofa is about to stage the Nofa-Red Ribbon Under-15 /Under-17 Inter-Clubs Provincial Football Championships.
During a recent meeting of club and team representatives with Nofa officials headed by General Secretary Mari Mendezona and Deputy General Secretary Warren Concepcion, it was made clear that players originally belonging to clubs located in municipalities and cities outside Bacolod City who wish to play for a school-based club team must first secure "clearance" from their original clubs before they can be allowed to see action for their school team.
Mendezona explained that this is necessary in order to avoid confusion as to where a player should play if he is both claimed by his club and his school. Nofa is now accepting the credentials of teams who are seeing action in both the Red Ribbon Under-15 and Under-17 inter-club tournaments with the deadline for submission of lineups set on April 4, at the Nofa clubhouse along 23rd-Aguinaldo streets.
The seeded teams in the Red Ribbon Under-15 competition are San Carlos City, Pontevedra, Victorias and Maao, Bago City while in the Under-17 inter-club series the seeded sides are Victorias, West Negros College, San Carlos and Bago.
Meanwhile, Nofa is also pushing for the taking of local referees to officiate in forthcoming Nofa tournaments in view of the increase in the number of participating teams which may require more referees and assistant referees.
So far, 11 teams have confirmed participation in the Red Ribbon Under-15 series and another 16 have also confirmed seeing action in the Under-17 inter-clubs event based, on the tally made during the February 5 meeting of Nofa officials and representatives.
Players eligible to see action in the Under-15 event are those who were born not earlier than the cut-off date of Jan. 1, 1991 while the cut-off date for players to qualify in the Under-17 interclubs event is Jan. 1, 1990.
Mendezona and Concepcion are joined in the tournament committee for the two events by Nofa referees group chairman Dennis Estaniel. (HCV)
