Police settles clan conflict
By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan

FOUR persons in Sitio Sumulog, Barangay Buluangan, San Carlos City in northern Negros voluntarily surrendered their loose firearms to the barangay officials and police Monday.

Congratulations to the graduates of 2006! Post your graduation experiences and greetings here.

San Carlos City Police Director Ricardo de la Paz reported that Rolando Catague surrendered his caliber .38 revolver while Jesus Batohan, Ramil Magnanao and Danilo Capuras turned over their respective homemade shotguns.

The report was sent to Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) Director Charles Calima Jr.

De la Paz said the turnover of loose firearms was the result of a peace talk held between the Catague and Delfin families last April 12, four days after a shootout ensued between the two warring clans.

The incident, which occurred last April 8, left Eduardo and Danilo Delfin wounded.

The dialog, De la Paz said, was meant to patch up the differences of the two parties and encourage other residents in the barangay to turn-over their loose firearms.

The surrender was also attended by more than 200 residents of Barangay Buluangan. Mayor Eugenio Jose Lacson, City Council members Christopher Carmona and Punong Barangay Juanito Lambating were also present.

A peace covenant was also signed by the Catague and Delfin families.
