LHCA-B cagers upset Tay Tung Alumni By Henry C. Villalva
UNDERDOG Living Heritage Christian Academy-B Wednesday edged pre-game favorite Bacolod Tay Tung High School Alumni, 8-5, as hostilities in the 2006 Gaisano 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament resumed with an eight-game schedule at the Gaisano City basement activity center court.
Tay Tung Alumni, composed of RB Chua, Ben Lopez, Carl Edemne and Belonio are one of the top seeds in this summer event for below 19 years old cagers.
Also posting wins yesterday were Bacolod Tay Tung High School-B over unheralded Shohuku, 9-6, in Bracket B while Cadiz, the one out-of-town team seeing action in this series, nipped Shohuku, 11-10, for a well-deserved victory in Bracket B.
Victories by forfeiture were awarded to Tay Tung Alumni over Duke, La Salle Nursing-B over Paglaum Village and Living Heritage Christian Academy-A over
Bacolod Christian Education Center School.
BCECS and Paglaum Village likewise defaulted their scheduled Bracket B clash which was one of May 5 games rescheduled for yesterday by organizers.
Games are to resume today and tomorrow as previously scheduled.
BCECS will try to bounce back into contention when it takes on Shohuku when
hostilities resume this afternoon at 1:30. Other schedules matches pit Cadiz against defending champion West Negros College; St. John's Institute-A against Paglaum Village and Bacolod Tay Tung High School-B versus Living Heritage Christian Academy-A in the day's final match.
BCECS, composed of Dupert Rae Gallardo, Jed Dequilla, Vince Benignos, Leandro Francisco and Ferdin Macuja and mentored by Ronald Tanlugon kicks off Friday's four-game schedule when it meets St. John's Institute-A in a Bracket B encounter followed by La Salle Nursing-B versus Shohuku; while defending titlist WNC tries the mettle of LHCA-A and BTTHS-B tangles against Paglaum Village.
