'Prepare for NPA's new game': police official to cops
IN ORDER to see to it that the New People's Army (NPA) could no longer take advantage against any policeman or police office in Negros Occidental, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Director Doroteo Reyes II Tuesday advised all policemen in Negros to once again review their police tactics.
"We have no choice because the Camp Crame has already ordered us to include the internal security operations in our mission so we need to follow this," Reyes told the policemen.
He denied though that the NPAs are making an upsurge in their activities and that even the police who are not trained on ISO are now being targeted.
The police are only oriented in anti-crime operations.
"No, our enemies are only active today and they also have problems, primarily, in terms of lack of firearms. That's why they are now into collective move by attacking the police or police stations and carting away their firearms," he said.
Reyes however said he has already instructed his men to better prepare now on the NPA's newest "game" - attacking policemen and police offices in the province.
"I am confident that policemen in Negros could later have better accomplishment," he said.
He also asked Negrenses to understand the policemen's situation and not to blame Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Noppo) Director Charles Calima Jr. for laxity.
What happened in Escalante City wherein a police detachment based in Malasibog was raided, two policemen were assassinated in Mabini and a police asset was killed in Crossing Cido (also in Mabini) are the responsibility of the chief of police in the place and not by Calima, explained Reyes.
"I hope Negrenses will understand this and the situation," the PRO 6 director added.
Nevertheless, Reyes instructed his men to always coordinate with the people in the fight against insurgency in Negros./EASD
