Couple yield, admit killing of wife's paramour By Nicolas C. Delfin
IT WAS not a bothering conscience that led a murder suspect to surrender to the Silay Police. It was, of all reasons, the fact that he runs out of clean clothes to wear.
Nelfred Ordonia, 32, was earlier implicated in the killing of his relative Jimmy Pelaez, whose body was found hidden inside a septic tank. Both are residents of Hacienda Dorotea, Barangay Capitan Ramon in Silay City.
Ordonia said he had no other choice but to turn himself over to the police as he already run out of clean clothes to wear.
He has been hiding since he reportedly murdered his kin last Tuesday. At first, he allegedly tried to hide the crime by dumping Pelaez' body inside a septic tank.
Police investigators earlier theorized that jealousy prompted Ordonia to kill Pelaez on the evening of June 20.
Pelaez was his wife's former boyfriend.
Ordonia admitted the crime but said he committed it only because he saw the victim about to rape his wife.
He narrated that when he came home on the evening of June 20 he saw Pelaez dragging his wife into committing a sexual act. His wife, Jennybeth, on the other hand, was struggling and crying for help.
Without any second thoughts, he grabbed a shovel and hit Pelaez on the head. He said though that it was because of rage he hit Pelaez over and over with a metal tube until the latter died.
He further said he put the victim's body in a sack and dropped it in their septic tank, which is three meters away from their house. He covered the tank with grasses so as to cover the crime he had committed and fled.
Ordonia's wife also went into hiding. However, the Silay Police were notified after the couple's neighbor's noticed that they were not seen in the village for days.
The victim's aunt, Lolita, also sought police assistance after she was not able to locate her nephew for several days.
It was only later that the operatives uncovered Pelaez's body dumped inside the tank.
Lead investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Reynaldo Plaza said they will conduct further investigation on the matter.
Ordonia's wife later surrendered and supported her husband's statements.
Ordonia is now detained at Silay Police Office while charges are readied against him.
