Personal grudge eyed as motive in killing of cab driver By Roberto L. Bacasong
THE police are now eyeing the angle of personal grudge as a possible motive behind the killing of a taxi driver last Wednesday at the circumferential road in Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City.
Bacolod City Police Office Director Pedro Merced said Monday that they have two suspects in the killing of Rico Magbanua, 35, a resident of Hervias 3, Barangay Villamonte.
Merced said the robbery with homicide angle was scrapped because of the latest findings conducted by Police Station 3 prober SPO1 Jessie Baylon.
Magbanua's cellphone and P600 in cash were recovered from pocket, eradicating the angle that it was robbery.
The killing left his five children orphaned and under the care of their mother, who is jobless.
Merced said the police are now validating the identities of the suspects who are residents of Bacolod.
He added that the multiple stab wounds suffered by the victim indicate the suspects' hatred for the victim.
Police Station 3 Chief Jeoresty Coronica said they are convincing witnesses to execute affidavits in order to arrest the assailants and file appropriate criminal charges in court.
