Sy not decided yet to tandem with Ponteras

BACOLOD City Councilor Elmer Sy is yet to consult former councilor Monju Guanzon of his plans for next year's elections.

He, on the other hand, said he has not signified yet his intention to be the runningmate of former Bacolod City Police director Vicente Ponteras who is running for mayor.

This is contrary to the claim of Ponteras who told Sun.Star Sunday that he and Sy will run as mayor and vice mayor, respectively in next year's elections.

"He (Ponteras) invited me for the partnership but I have not given my commitment yet because I have to consult Monju Guanzon first," Sy said.

Sy said several political camps were offering him. The brother of Ricardo "Cano" Tan also approached him to be Tan's runningmate.

He added that Peping Villanueva also asked him to be Mayor Evelio Leonardia's runningmate.

"I respect the Guanzons as I am loyal to them. Without the Guanzons, I may not be where I am right now," Sy said.

Leonardia, on the other hand, said it is too early to talk about the 2007 elections.

"As of today, I have several things to do for the city, I have no time to campaign for the elections," said Leonardia.(CMP)
