Ka Frank: Now an insulin user

THE Philippine Army no longer considers priest-turned- rebel Fr. Frank Fernandez alias "Ka Frank" as a threat to the peace and order situation in Negros Island.
This as Col. Gregorio Fajardo, commander of the 303rd Infantry (Brown Eagle) Brigade said based on their recent intelligence report, Ka Frank, a known leader of the New People's Army (NPA) in Negros island is already an insulin user to indicate that he has diabetes.
"Based on the information we received, Ka Frank is now old and sickly and is suffering from severe diabetes," said Fajardo.
Insulin is the hormone that regulates the glucose level in the blood of a diabetic person.
Yesterday, Ka Frank sent a message to Bacolod mediamen through an email nixing President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's latest appropriation of P1 billion to smash insurgency in the country in two years time.
"It's a desperate move," described Ka Frank.
He enjoined all Negrenses in calling for the immediate ouster of President Arroyo so to save the country from too much corruption.
He also accused soldiers of the 303rd IB as suspects behind the series of killing of militants and members of peasant group in Negros Occidental, calling it as the "greatest accomplishment" of the army.
But for Fajardo, "I don't want to dignify the statement of the old man. It's simply propaganda. Who will believe in someone whose accomplishment is not positive?"
Negrenses are intelligent, they will not readily believe Ka Frank's words, added Fajardo.
Besides, he stressed, whatever propaganda Ka Frank would like to convey, it would be difficult for them to let the public believe on these because the NPA is now branded as the newest "extortionist" in Negros.
He also doesn't believe that it was Ka Frank who wrote the statement.
Earlier, former 303rd IB commander Gen. Jerry Jalandoni disclosed that Ka Frank is now under the care of Nilda Natan Bertulano alias Ka Jane Canja, the current leader of Larangan Guerilla I of Komiting Rehiyon Negros (KNR).
Ka Jane Canja is the wife of Danilo Bertulano alias Ka Golem, who was among the ten reported casualties from the NPA side during the foiled attack of a Cafgu Detachment at Barangay Villegas, Guihulngan town in Negros Oriental last April 22.
Jalandoni also said Ka Frank has problem with his mobility. He is believed to be in his early 70's.
