Tennis association offers facilities for Nopsscea use
THE Lopue's Table Tennis Association (Loptta) headed by businessman and sports patron Dr. Leonito "Diotay" Lopue is offering its table tennis facilities to the Negros Occidental Private School Sports Cultural and Educational Association (Nopsscea) for use during the table tennis competition of the forthcoming 2006 Nopsscea season.
This was confirmed to Sun.Star Monday by former RP national training pool standout and currently Loptta coach Jonard Baldonado.
"Mr. Lopue has always expressed his desire to have the Loptta facilities used by students competing in the annual tournament of the Nopsscea because he wants these players to play in an atmosphere conforming to international standards," Baldonado said.
The Loptta table tennis center located at the Lopue's San Sebastian building is fully air-conditioned, well-lighted and uses six international standard tables.
"I believe that by using these top of the line facilities we will be able to help develop our players into becoming world-class competitors and I think that is also the intention of Mr. Lopue," Baldonado added.
He also said he believes Loptta is not intending to charge the Nopsscea for the use of the said facilities.
"Mr. Lopue's desire is just to help Nopsscea stage its annual table tennis competition in a venue that is conducive to better play and is convenient and very accessible to all the participating teams," Baldonado further explained.
At present, table tennis players under Loptta are undergoing training in preparation for the annual Loptta tournament scheduled this coming November.
Baldonado likewise revealed Loptta is currently involved in the training of Loptta standout and national team campaigner Marell Lagunday of La Carlota City who is expected to make it with the RP contingent for the December 1-15, 2006 15th Asian Games competitions in Doha, Qatar. (HCV)
