Gringo arrest soon, Esperon vows By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan
JAMINDAN, Capiz -- Like Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez, incoming Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief-of-Staff Hermogenes Esperon Jr. is confident that former senator turned fugitive Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan will be arrested soon.
"It's really hard to hide and hide all the time," Esperon told Western Visayas mediamen during a press conference at Camp Macario Peralta here.
He refused to reveal though the information contained in a military intelligence report on Honasan's whereabouts.
Asked whether or not it is true that Honasan is only in Western Visayas, Esperon simply smiled to the media and said, "secret..."
Earlier, Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita said although the six Magdalo members have already been arrested last week in their safe house in Quezon City, this could not guarantee that the President Arroyo's State of the Nation Address (Sona) on July 24 will go without any hitch.
At least not until Honasan will be arrested.
Honasan, known to be the "Kuya" of Magdalo went in hiding after the February 24 failed coup attempt against the Arroyo administration.
From then on, Honasan was said to be hiding in some of his close friends or relatives in Iloilo and Negros Occidental provinces.
However, the raids conducted in Iloilo and Toboso town in Negros Occidental turned out to be negative.
Gonzalez earlier denied that Honasan is hiding in the province as he claimed that there is a new information regarding Honasan's whereabouts.
Esperon said time will come when Honasan will be arrested and brought to court for the charges heaped against him.
