Junk shop owner returns roller, grader to City
By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan

THE saga on the alleged report on the City's missing grader and road roller as well as the "word war" between City Legal Officer Allan Zamora and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Negros Occidental Field Office head Roberto Tupaz must be stopped now.

Because those items, said Eisen Uy, owner of the Oriental Junk, in a telephone interview Thursday, were already returned to the City Engineer's Office (CEO) days after he mistakenly included them among the scrap irons and metals he bought from the City through legitimate bidding.

"It was just an honest mistake caused by a sort of miscommunication between me and the Commission on Audit (COA) and people from the City. I acknowledged it already because in our part we thought that these items were included among those to be sold to us so we paid for them also," he said.

"But since we've paid for them already and later returned them also to the City, then it is but natural for the City to refund my money. That's why I was told to submit a claim sheet as a requirement in claiming my refund," Uy added.

Uy paid for the scrap items including the dilapidated heavy equipment for P9.35 per kilo.

But he refused to disclose the total amount he paid for the said items.

He also said the issue is not alarming, therefore, Zamora and Tupaz should stop their verbal tussle now.

Meanwhile, Tupaz also told Sun.Star he is unfazed of the case filed by Zamora against him before the People's Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) for alleged grave misconduct and usurpation of official function.

"I don't know who this Zamora is and besides I am just doing my job for the sake of public interest," he said.

He also reminded Zamora that the CIDG is the lead investigative body of both the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

"As long as there's a complainant and a complaint, then we have no choice but to act on it," he pointed out.
