Girl, 15 dies after Ma forces abortion? By Nicolas C. Delfin
A 15-year-old girl died Sunday after she was reportedly forced by her mother to abort the baby she was carrying for about four months.
According to some residents in Purok San Roque, Barangay Tangub, the girl's mother ran away with her other daughter shortly after the death of the young girl leaving the dead girl under the care of her neighbors.
The girl's father finally laid her body to rest at the Sum-ag public cemetery.
It appeared that girl's father and mother were no longer living together. The former lives in Iloilo while the latter lives in Bacolod. (All names are being withheld by Sun.Star)
Based on interviews with several people from Purok San Roque, the girl was discovered to be four months on the way to motherhood when her mother reportedly forced her to commit the abortion.
A certain "Maring" was reportedly called to do a "hilot" and force the baby out last week.
This woman though has denied administering the abortive exercise when she was called and interrogated by a Barangay Health Worker.
This is reportedly aside from the "drug" that were reportedly administered by the mother to relieve the pains that her daughter felt last Friday and Saturday. The girl was found dead Sunday morning.
According to the girl's father, the autopsy report conducted on his daughter indicated dehydration as among the causes of death.
He confirmed though that there were talks of his daughter's pregnancy and how his estranged partner dealt with it.
"My daughter died on a Sunday but I was only informed of it on Monday evening. I could not believe it at first. I have to come here and confirm that my daughter is really gone," he said in an exclusive interview with Sun.Star Bacolod.
His relatives, who came all the way from Iloilo Thursday, said they are no longer willing to go after the girl's mother.
"What is important is that we have already laid her to rest," one of them said. Before their arrival, some residents claimed that no one tended to the girl's wake.
"The girl has an uncle. But he did not mind too. Her mother was nowhere to be found. Some came only at nighttime but at dawn and at daytime, no one is there," one of the Purok residents said in Hiligaynon.
Omitin told Sun. Star, Thursday, that he is still confused and puzzled of her daughters fate after his wife went missing.
A Barangay Health Worker in Tangub also related to Sun.Star that the girl's maternal grandfather claimed that the cause of death was appendicitis.
But the victim's uncle reportedly said she died of "bughat" (relapse).
Barangay Tangub Councilor Carlos Montaño said the girl's casket was provided by the City Government after a request was made.
Although some residents claimed that some police officers visited their place to probe the incident, there appears to be no record of it at the Police Station 8. They also said that the 19-year-old boy who got the girl pregnant was also a resident of the Purok.
Both he and the girl's mother were absent in yesterday's funeral.
"Kamo na lang tani nga ari diri ang maka-paggwa kung ano man gid ang kamatuoran sa likod sang kamatayon sang bata ko," the girl's father added. (I hope you who live here will be able to arrive at the truth behind my daughter's death)
He added that what is important now is he and his family were able to give his daughter a decent burial.
