The annual tournament is part of Nova's ongoing grassroots development program staged in partnership with the USLS varsity sports office headed by Nova president Roger Banzuela who is concurrently president of the Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) and Beach Volleyball Association of the Philippines (BVAP).

Meanwhile, Negrense Rhovyl Verayo of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, has been named to compose the men's beach volleyball squad for the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar as announced in Manila recently by beach volleyball head coach Ructico "Oti" Camangian.

Camangian has reportedly appealed to the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) for the inclusion of another two pairs (one men's and one women's) has so far been given the go signal to compete.

Another Negrense--Michelle Laborte-- is one of the members of the other tandem being recommended for inclusion in the RP contingent for the Asiad.

Camangian has reportedly also recommended the inclusion of the men's Fil-American pair of Chad Mowrey and Justin Schnor who, together with the Fil Am women's pair of Heidi Ilustre and Diane Pascua, saw action here last year during the 23rd Southeast Asian Games beach volley event at the USLS sand courts.
