Ceneco collected P183M in August By Erwin Ambo S. Delilan
THE Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) arrested at least 225 illegal wiretappers in Bacolod City from January to August this year, a feat which resulted to the recovery of 737,585 kilowatts or P3.9 million.
This also improved its system loss by more than one percent when compared to the power cooperative's January to June performances.
Of those apprehended, 24 were arrested in January; 26 in February; 31 in March; 20 in April; 28 in May; 36 in June; 25 in July and 35 in August.
As a result, Ceneco's system loss went down to only 12.7% in both July and August or an average of one percent lower when compared to the January to June percentages.
In 2002 and 2003, the system loss records showed that it was even higher than 15 percent.
Ceneco President Ed Guillem said they are hoping to lower the coop's losses to only 10 percent this year.
Aside from its losses, the coop also revealed its total collection of more than P183 million in the month of August alone.
This include Ceneco's branch office collection in Murcia, Talisay, Silay and Bago, which amounted to P124,872,500.06; Bacolod Payment-P697,828.89; Bank Collection-P9,585,100.05; Collectors-Special Account-P39,199,825.95 and Collection Center-P9,356,900.89.
"Records show that Ceneco is really performing well in its fight against wire thieves and collection efforts," Guillem said.
He also assured consumers that "with the two new power sub-stations (in Alijis and Mabini) which will be operational soon, system losses will definitely decrease."
"That's why I reiterated that the construction of the sub-stations is for the power demand of Bacolod consumers and to lower our system loss which will help reduce the consumers' monthly bill," added Guillem.
"I have nothing to say anymore because Ceneco is really, really performing well," Guillem added.
