According to BCC sports director Jerome Galunan, BCC athletes brought home medals in swimming, taekwondo, table tennis, lawn tennis and chess, among others.

"This achievement is a tribute to the support that our ongoing sports development program gets from the BCC administration and board as well as the cooperation that our athletes get from their parents," Galunan told Sun.Star Bacolod Wednesday.

Leading this year's BCC medallists in the Nopsscea are swimmers Karlo Del Carmen and Nico Kuan; lawn tennis standout Eladio Pilares; taekwondo jin Tedjay Ibañez; table tennis Bienjilyn Dayap and chesser Arnold Kenneth De Oca, among others.

Del Carmen, who recently came home with golds in 800-meter freestyle and 400-meter freestyle in the 12 years old division of the Philippine Youth Swimming Cup Dumaguete leg, finished with a gold in 100 fly plus silvers in 200 free, 100 free, 50 back and 50 fly in the Nopsscea competition.

His teammate, Nico Kua, took a gold in 100-meter breaststroke on top of silvers in 50 free, 50 breast and 200 IM, plus a bronze in 200 free.

Eladio Pilares, senior high school student, took the boys singles lawn tennis gold and led the BCC team to finish with three more silvers courtesy of Jade Rodriguez, Ivan Kim Ysug and Anthony Belmonte.

In the elementary division, the lawn tennis medallists were krystal Fairh Amador (gold); Wednesday Aplasca (silver); Daryl Divino (silver); and Zaynah France Vilchez (silver).

Ibañez, meanwhile, led BCC's taekwondo medallists taking the gold in elementary boys while Gynder Azuelo pocketed the elementary girls gold.

Joseph Rivas pocketed a silver in elementary boys competition while Kaithlyn Buerom and Jake Jimenea settled for silvers in girls and boys high school division.

The bronze medallists were (elementary girls) Rukmini Yanson and Janica Bantigue; (elementary boys) John Mark Palaganas and Archie Quilantang; (high school girls) Catherine Aledron and Davvi Villalva; and (high school boys) David Villalva.

BCC chesser Kenneth Arnold De Oca, fourth year, finished in the top 6 of individual standings and went on to qualify for a slot in the forthcoming Negros Occidental provincial meet representing Nopsscea.

Rounding off the list of BCC's Nopsscea 2006 medallists is 14-year-old freshman Bienjilyn Dayap who pocketed the gold as high school girls table tennis singles champion.
