WUSHU Federation of the Philippines (WFP) Negros Occidental Coordinator Joery C. Amante, Chief Instructor of Black Falcon Martial Arts Association-Main (BFMAA-Main), brought honor again to Bacolod City and Negros Occidental when two of his students won gold medals in the 4th Regional Wushu Sanshou Championship Cong. Raul Gonzales Jr. Cup last September 30, 2006 at the Fountain Area, Robinson's Place-Iloilo, Iloilo City.
Amante's son, Janry Amante, was crowned champion in the juniors 48 kg. division while Andres Villarmia dominated the seniors 56 kg. class.
The gold medal haul by the duo brings to 7 the total of gold medals won by BFMAA-Main/WFP-Negros Occidental in the regionals since its inception on January 22, 2004.
Villarmia, a bronze medalist of the 2005 Philippine Wushu Sanshou Championships, is the first three times Western Visayas regional champion from the Negros Island, having registered wins in the 2nd and 3rd editions of the tournament (February 8, 2005 and October 16, 2005).
Amante had also previously won in the 2nd Cong. Raul Gonzales Jr. Cup.
Four times Dumaguete City Western boxing champion Leonel Nu$esco (1st edition) and Former Philippine Wushu Sanshou Team trainee Jet Lumawag (3rd edition) won the 2 other gold medals for BFMAA-Main/WFP-Negros Occidental.
