THE City Government of Bacolod now has a new City Treasurer after Florentino Guanco retires Tuesday.
Anabelle Badajos, the City Treasurer of Bago City was chosen by Mayor Evelio Leonardia upon recommendation of the Department of Finance (DOF) in Region 6.
Badajos succeeded Guanco who has served the City for 12 years and has been with DOF for 37 years.
Badajos, a native of Roxas, Capiz has been a City Treasurer of Bago City for 12 years and worked with the DOF for 35 years now.
Prior her Bago stint, Badajos was also OIC-treasurer of the Provincial Government of Capiz.
“I hope the people of Bacolod will also support me like the people of Bago,” Badajos said.
She said she accepted the challenge to be in Bacolod because she believes it is for her career advancement.
Mayor Leonardia, on the other hand, vowed to support Badajos “all the way.”
He also thanked Guanco for his “great service” rendered in the City.
Meanwhile, Acting DOF Regional Office 6 Director Melba Sullivan who assisted in the installation of Badajos in the City yesterday also disclosed that Bacolod is among in the top 3 best performing city in Western Visayas in terms of tax collection.
