AN ALL women art exhibit, dubbed Feminine Touch 2, was recently held at the lobby of Sea Breeze Hotel in San Juan Street, Bacolod City on October 21 to 30.
The exhibit showcased a total of 48 valuable pieces of art of Bacolod-based visual artists Teret Arnaldo, Miriam Bayles, Anette Feria, Dolly Gatuslao, Sony Golez, Beth Puey, and Chrysee Samillano.
“The exhibit is to show that women are starting to excel in the once male-dominated visual arts,” said Puey.
Interestingly, the first Feminine Touch was launched on October 25, 1986 sponsored by the Art Association of Bacolod, with former members Estrella Hagad, Josefa Soberano, Mel Tupaz, Elsa Valenzuela and all seven artists of Feminine Touch 2.
Some proceeds of the exhibit will be donated to the elders of Negros Occidental Senior Citizen’s Association (NOSCA) and indigent patients of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod, Puey said.
Anita Feria’s eight paintings on display used acrylic with ceramic components. Some were entitled Secret Garden, Mental Progress, Abundance and Rhapsody.
Miriam Bayles has seven paintings, all about fruits and flowers using acrylic, oil and pastel. Some were entitled Bouquet, Orkidas, and Still-life fruits.
Teret Arnaldo has five artworks, using oil on canvass. Some of her works were called Feathered Gladiators (showing roosters), Bahay Kubo, Beach and Tapas-Larga.
Dolly Gatuslao has 12 paintings, using oil and pastel. Some were called Woman in a Pensive Mood, Ang Suba, San Sebastian Cathedral and The Two Faces of Mama Mary.
Beth Puey has six paintings, which used watercolors and pastel. Some of her works were entitled Kampeong Sabungero, Lord, One Passenger Please Till death Do Us Part.
Sony Golez has four paintings on display, which used acrylic and oil. Some were entitled Mask and San Diego de Alcala.
