Friday, November 03, 2006 China firm to tap local workforce for ethanol plant
FIFTH District Congressman Ignacio T. Arroyo Jr. in Negros Occidental said that the China firm that have agreed to undertake the proposed ethanol plant in southern and central Negros will tap local workforce as well as local materials.
The solon said that China CAMC Engineering Limited (Camce) and B.M. SB Integrated Biofuels Company and Negros Southern Integrated Biofuels Company will have the final contract in December 2006 to be signed by representatives of both parties when the Bioethanol Bill is expected to be approved by Congress and the Office of the President.
The concerned companies signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOU) in the presence of President Arroyo as part of her state visit in China directed at strengthening the trade relations between the two countries.
The two ethanol plants will cost $20 million each. Arroyo said the company has expressed interest to source the machineries and equipment from China but will tap local work force and materials. (Press release)
