Killings
In Bago City, a 17-year-old died after he was electrocuted at about 7 a.m. in Sitio Tonggoy, Barangay Sampinit during the New Year's Day Eve.
The victim reportedly attempted to take copper wires from a residential house owned by a Resita Manajo but got electrocuted instead after cutting a live wire.
In La Castellana town, a member of a Civilian Auxiliary Force Geographical Unit (Cafgu) was shot dead by an officer of the Philippine Army under the 12th Infantry Batallion and a fellow Cafgu member at about 10:30 p.m. in Sitio Asay, Barangay Cabacungan last December 31.
Killed was Leo Mamelia alias "Aming", a resident of Sitio Cabacungan.
Reports say he was shot by his detachment commander identified as Sergeant Victor Panes and Cafgu member Gabriel Villanueva.
Based on an initial La Castellana police investigation, Mamelia was under the influence of alcohol and was disarmed by Panes when the former resisted.
It also appeared the Mamelia tried to take Panes' rifle prompting the latter and Villanueva to fire their weapons.
Both Panes and Villanueva surrendered to the La Castellana Police and were later endorsed to the custody of Ex-O Delta Company under the 12th Infantry Batallion of the Philippine Army prior to further investigation.
