A ROAD show of three vehicles which runs on biofuel will go around Bacolod City as part of the nationwide Biofuels Caravan on Friday morning to educate the public on the use and benefits of biofuels.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

The caravan kicked-off last February 3 from Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte to Tarlac where they held the first public forum, proceeding to Laguna, Batangas and Iloilo Thursday before taking off to Bacolod for a city-wide motorcade followed by a public forum at the Business Inn.

Forum speakers include Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Director Mario Marasigan of the Department of Energy, Jun Espino of the Automobile Association of the Philippines, Bien Baniqued of the Council of the Philippines Clean Cities Coalition and Bernie Raymundo of SeaOil Philippines.

Raymundo will be discussing issues on vehicle compatibility and fuel economy for the enlightenment of the general public.

Key stakeholders including local government officials and members of the media have been invited to ride the Toyota Innova, Ford Focus and Mitsubishi Lancer vehicles fueled by bioethanol or biodiesel from the Seaoil Lopez Jaena station.

The vehicles will then be displayed at the Capitol Lagoon before departing for San Carlos City passing through the Bioenergy Plant, then on to Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon and Davao for the final leg of the caravan.

The activities are in line with the mandate on the use of biofuels as per Republic Act 9367 or the Biofuels Act of 2006 signed by President Gloria-Macapagal Arroyo last month.(Press Release)
