This, as the House's committee on ethics wrapped up its committee hearing Tuesday night and came up with a recommendation to suspend Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano for 45 working days.
Cayetano accused Iggy, his elder brother First Gentleman Jose Miguel "Mike" Arroyo and children Juan Miguel, Diosdado and Luli of allegedly having accounts in Germany.
But Cayetano, according to the committee on ethics, failed to present substantial evidence on his claim against the Arroyos.
HypoVereins Bank issued a certification that not one from the Arroyos had an account with them.
The certification was signed by HypoVereins Bank Vice President Peter Reisner, Senior Legal Counsel Michael Henniger, General Secretariat Head Ev Vollmann and Compliance Officer Klaus Michael Ploss.
The certification was issued after the First Gentleman signed a waver allowing the fact-finding team from Congress to verify HypoVereins Bank in Germany of alleged deposits by the members of the First Family.
Iggy said, "Cayetano was simply caught with his pants down."
"I think the guy (Cayetano) should now make a public apology to preserve his credibility and integrity as a lawmaker of the country," he added.
Iggy also said that their family is now happy that they were vindicated by the bank's certification.
"At least, we've proven to the Filipino people that we don't have any hidden accounts abroad," he said, adding that what Cayetano earlier said was "a blunt lie that is aimed to confuse the public and taint the Arroyos' reputation."
"I hope my dear people in the 5th District of Negros Occidental will not be disturbed by Cayetano's false accusations against me and my family," Iggy said.
