No choice, Rapiz assumes new post
By Nicolas C. Delfin

POLICE Senior Inspector Santiago Rapiz has finally assumed his post as chief of the Pulupandan Police Station Wednesday afternoon.

Rapiz became controversial after Provincial Director Rosendo Franco relieved him from his duty as E.B. Magalona Police chief last January 13.

He was replaced by Inspector Rone Grajo.

Franco said the relief was due to the series of complaints filed against him by some residents of E.B. Magalona.

But E.B. Magalona Mayor Alfonso Gamboa questioned Franco's move and later filed a request at the office of Western Visayas Police Director Wilfredo Dulay to re-instate Rapiz as the town's police chief.

Dulay, in a text message sent to Sun.Star Bacolod, said he had directed Senior Supt. Lazaro Torcita, Police Regional Office Human Resource and Doctrine Development chief to take charge of Rapiz' cases.

Gamboa's request, on the other hand is still pending at the police regional office.

Meanwhile, Franco said that if Rapiz refused to assume the post as Pulupandan Police chief, he will be forced to file an administrative case against him since even the Comelec had already has approved his new assignment.
