Raps filed vs 2 'extortionists'
A COMPLAINT for grave threats was filed against two salesmen who identified themselves as members of the New People's Army (NPA) to extort money from a businesswoman at the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Wednesday.
The duo are Ismael Belonta, 38, of Barangay Bata and Arvin Cadallo, 32, a native of Bindoy, Negros Occidental.
They were arrested in an entrapment operation of the Escalante City Police, led by Police Inspector Mateo Maguate, and the Bacolod City Police Precinct 3 in Purok Tunay, Barangay Bata Friday morning.
Maguate said the suspects demanded P350,000 from rice retailer Febe Tan and threatened to kill her daughter if she failed to give the amount they demanded.
Maguate said they recommended the filing of grave threats instead of extortion since the former has more weight based on the evidences gathered.
Meanwhile, Belonta was already endorsed to Police Precinct 3 in Bacolod City while Cadallo is still confined in a hospital in Escalante City.(NCD)For more Philippine news, visit Sun.Star Iloilo.
