Couple slain in Bago
By Nicolas C. Delfin

A COUPLE was brutally murdered, their throats slashed and their heads smashed, by at least two attackers in Purok Paglaum, Barangay Antipuluhan, Bago City Tuesday dawn.

Police have yet to identify the suspects although they said this could have been pulled by two or three men, judging from the fate the couple suffered.

Victims Antonio and Daisy Jalandoni were resident farmers of a seven hectare farm in a remote area of Purok Paglaum.

Their lifeless bodies were discovered at about noon Tuesday after one of their daughters visited them along with her husband.

According to the police report, the younger couple was shocked to find the bodies of Antonio and Daisy.

Antonio's body was found lying outside their shanty while his wife's body was discovered on a bed inside the room, police report said.

Bago City Police Director Alex Belonio said based on their investigation, Antonio was called by two or more suspects at about 3 a.m. to come out and have a talk.

Shortly then, the suspects began the brutal killing by hitting his nape with a hard object and slashing his throat, he said.

Belonio added, that prior to the killing of Antonio, two boys who were reportedly collecting firewood heard him calling for help but they, however, failed to determine where his location was.

The wife, on the other hand, noticed the incident and had locked the front door of the house. The suspects destroyed it though.

"Daisy was cornered inside a room. The suspects then hit her forehead with a hammer and slashed her throat, resulting to her instantaneous death," Belonio added.

He junked the possibility of robbery as motive because it appeared that none of the couple's valuables were taken.

He theorized that the suspects were acquainted with the couple after Antonio's cup of coffee was discovered outside.

As of presstime, the police investigators are still conducting a thorough investigation to determine the people behind the couple's brutal death.
