GEORGE Liza of Event Channel eventually got his wish of being sworn in as president of the Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines - Bacolod Tuesday at Fastbreak of Bascon Hotel.
Oscar Bascon, president of the Negros Basketball Association, again save his godson and the new set of officers of the only sports reporters group in the province.
With Liza were Henceboy Cestina, vice president; Henry Villalva, secretary; Cyrus Garde, auditor; and Renato Duran, ex-officio.
Business manager Nida Buenafe came in late while treasurer Elsie Jolingan missed the ceremony. Board of Directors Cedelf Tupas, Mitch Lipa and Guillermo Tejeda III were absent due to assignments.
Others present who took their oath were past presidents Tony Oquindo and Henry Doble as board of advisers which include Allen del Carmen, Buddy Ferrer, Nestor Padesio, Eric Loretizo and Imelda Gerangaya.
For aspiring sports scribes, the membership committee is composed of del Carmen, Garde and Doble.
Projects lined up by Liza include Sports Interaction at Fastbreak, seminars for junior sportswriters, sports activities for mediamen and continue the projects of his predecessor. (HGD)
