BCC offers scholarships to promising athletes
By Henry C. Villalva

BACOLOD Christian Center will continue to offer scholarships to promising athletes as part of its sports development program, according to BCC chief administrative officer and former national table tennis standout Johnard Baldonado.

“Our NOPSSCEA level elementary and high school athletes have been enjoying scholarships and this will continue in the incoming school year as Bacolod Christian Center remains committed in developing our athletes who have consistently excelled particularly in the field of Taekwondo, table tennis, lawn tennis, chess, swimming, badminton, volleyball, basketball, arnis and boxing,” Baldonado told Sun.Star Bacolod in an interview last Monday.

He also said aside from ongoing training during the regular school year under qualified professional coaches and trainors, athletic scholars are also assured of quality education and adequate facilities that now includes a new cyber on-line library and communications facilities for children of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who wish to communicate with each other anytime.

Baldonado, a former sports coordinator of the fourth congressional district of the province under Rep. Carlos Cojuangco, also confirmed that BCC “may not be conducting its usual summer sports clinics since parts of the school’s campus are undergoing renovation.”

But BCC sports moderator Jerome Galunan assured that incoming athletes “may still join off-campus training in various sports also under BCC coaches although this time it wil be exclusive to BCC athletes and will not be open to outsiders the way it was during previous BCC summer clinics.”

Entrance exam/testing at BCC is conducted every Saturdays until May 11, 8-9, 9-10 and 10-11 a.m. and pre-registration is ongoing.

Interested students and student/athletes may inquire at the BCC Guidance Office through telephone number 434-45-36, the Sports Office at telephone number 433-40-32, or may call telephone number 434-49-57 or telefax 434-31-30.
