ALTHOUGH, they are already considered "sure winners," Negros Occidental Governor Joseph Marañon and his runningmate Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco, Wednesday filed their respective certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Provincial Comelec Office at the Kadiwa Center, Bacolod.
With the beat of the drums and chants of their supporters, both Marañon of the Nationalist People's Coalition-United Negros Alliance, and Zayco of Lakas, led other poll candidates seeking and re-seeking political positions in the Province under NPC-UNA-Lakas-KAMPI coalition, who also filed their COCs amid throng of supporters.
These include 3rd district Rep. Jose Carlos "Kako" Lacson (Lakas) 3rd District Alfredo "Thirdy" Marañon III (Kampi), 5th district Rep. Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo, Jr. (Kampi) and La Carlorta City Mayor Jeffrey Ferrer who is running for congressman in the 4th district (NPC).

Of all the candidates who filed their COCs, however, Ferrer made a star-studded appearance because aside from his wife lawyer Juliet Ferrer and mother-in-law Kitchie Benedicto-Paulino, only daughter of the late ambassador Roberto Salas-Benedicto, he was also accompanied by a group of La Carlota City drum beaters who spiced up the morning with their latin beats outside of the Comelec.
Marañon, on the other hand, was accompanied by his wife, First Lady Aida Marañon.
The governor also distributed red caps bearing his name and Zayco.
Green was the motif of the Lacsons who came in full-force at the Provincial Comelec.
Rep. Lacson was joined by his wife Cecile while Patrick was with his mother Temay.
Suprise guests senatorial Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri also came to show support to the Lacsons, Arroyo and Marañon. He was also in green shirt.
Leonardia, on the other hand, was accompanied by his wife Elsa, among other supporters.
