The cause of fire could not be determined yet as investigation conducted by the Ilog Fire Department is still on going.

The town, however, has no fire truck when the fire occurred.

No casualties were reported but the Church physical structure was totally damaged, which estimated to almost P5.5 million, police report said.

The Ilog Catholic Church was partly built using durable materials like cement and also of flammable hardwood. The church structure was built some 50 years ago by the Columban missionaries, police report added.

Investigation added that residents were alarmed after a fire was seen in the southern portion of the church's ceiling.

Minutes after, the fire spread reaching and burning the entire wooden ceiling, walls, as well as the church pews, furniture, kneelers and electrical equipment.

Fire trucks from Cauayan, Kabankalan and Binalbagan responded. The fire was contained in an hour.
