The First Gentleman, who underwent an open heart surgery at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Quezon City, is still on ventilator.
He was also given antibiotics to prevent possible infections, his chief attending physician Juliet Cervantes said.
Iggy said he's happy about the day-to-day positive medical development of his brother.
"It's progressing. I know he will survive and I am ready with my gift for him...and even my life if needed," Iggy added.
On the other hand, Cervantes clarified that the possibility of an infection to develop in First Gentleman's heart could not be established yet.
"But we will not wait for that (infection) to develop. We applied advanced infection management to avoid actual development of an infection even if it is not established yet," Cervantes told reporters in Manila.
"We are on the look out for possibility of a quick infection hence we are adequately covering him with wide spectrum antibiotics," she added.
She said while initial tests have not shown any sign of infection, "we will not wait for it to develop."
The First Gentleman has also started gastric-tube feeding for his nutritional support, she said.
On the other hand, she said doctors opted to maintain him on ventilator support "because more fluids have to be drained out."
"The situation at this time does not favor weaning. We have to support him continuously for the time being," she said.
Cervantes said Arroyo is also undergoing "continuous renal replacement therapy, considering that his kidneys are not adequately functioning yet."
"This is an expected but temporary procedure after this kind of surgery," she added.
Arroyo is also being given treatment to prevent pulmonary complications, Cervantes said.
Cervantes also said while Arroyo is "continuously awake," doctors want him to be asleep "most of the time to lessen requirements for oxygen."
She said Arroyo's heart and other organs are doing well.
"The most critical period is over but his condition entails critical monitoring since everything is medically volatile at this point in time," she said.
Radio station dzBB reported that more Cabinet members visited Arroyo since Thursday night, including Trade Secretary Peter Favila, Budget Secretary Rolando
Andaya Jr. and Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap; and Manila Mayor Jose "Lito" Atienza Jr.
Meanwhile, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo's visit to China next week will proceed as scheduled but would limit her trip to 12 hours instead of five days.
Marciano Paynor Jr., chief presidential protocol officer, said Arroyo would go to Hainan province on April 21 to attend the Boao forum where she is the main speaker. (With reports from Sunnex)
