A 22-year-old son committed suicide after he hacked his mentally disturbed mother to death inside their house in Hacienda Diamante, Barangay Damgo in E.B. Magalona town at about 8 a.m. Saturday.
Nesmar Laurente, according to police report, slashed his neck with a cane bolo (espading) after hacking his 50-year-old mother, Marietta, who instantly died inside their nipa house.
The mother and son were the only persons left inside their house when the incident happened, police report added.
Nestor, Nesmar's father and Marrietta's husband was not around during the incident.
Though, it wasn't clear yet on what has transpired during the whole incident as investigation is still being conducted by police operatives until press time Sunday.
Police Officer 1 Ronilo Maru, desk officer, however, in an interview with Sun.Star Bacolod Sunday said Nesmar was discovered by his younger brother Mac-mac, bathed in his own blood asking for help near their doorways.
Terrified by what he had seen, he (Mac-mac) ran to their nearby relatives in Barangay Cudangdang, seeking for help in order to bring his older brother to the hospital, Maru said.
When Mac-Mac returned with some of their relatives, he also saw his lifeless mother.
In a hope to save Nesmar, they rushed him to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Memorial Provincial Hospital in Silay City.
Attending physicians were able to stitch the slash wound in his neck to stop the bleeding, but shortly, however, he was pronounced dead, Maru said.
Police recovered in the crime scene a cane bolo used by Nesmar to kill his mother and later himself.
