Construction foreman killed, 2 workers hurt in fracas

A CONSTRUCTION foreman died while two of his workers were wounded in a fracas along the national highway in Purok Sampaguita, Central Lopez, Barangay Paraiso in Sagay City at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Killed with fatal wounds in his head was identified as Rolly Montes, 30, a native of La Carlota City who is temporarily residing in Purok Mahinangpanon, Hillside also in Barangay Paraiso.

His wounded companions were also identified as Ernesto Valdevieso and Wifredo Soliban, both also from La Carlota City.

Police identified their perpetrators as Roberto Remetio, Jugie Ayo, Carlito Chaves, Slimer Londres and a certain alias Toto Jeradora.

Based on police report, Montes and companions were walking on their way to home and passing along Purok Sampaguita when Remetio and his group attacked them for unknown reason.

Though outnumbered, Montes and his group managed to fight back but suspects who were armed with bladed weapons stabbed them resulting to Montes' instantaneous death.

Suspects immediately fled from the crime scene.

Police authorities also immediately conducted pursuit operation but still to no avail as of press time.

Charges of homicide and frustrated homicide were already lodged against the five suspects at the Regional Trial Court in Sagay City, the police said.
