WHETHER it's a Fundador or beer, the act of City Legal Officer Allan Zamora of having a drinking session inside his office at the City Hall is unethical.
Even the Civil Service Commission agreed that what Zamora and Executive Assistant Butch Soliguen did Tuesday night was unethical being top officials at City Hall.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, though, only regarded it as "social drinking" and for him, the act itself is not wrong.
Such remark is an obvious alibi for a chief executive whose very intention perhaps is to protect his city attorney from public criticism.
But Leonardia should understand that public office is a public trust.
If he wants to tolerate Zamora for such doing, there's no problem but he should not blame the public if they project him later as a "a toothless leader."
Consenting Zamora in having a drinking session inside the City Legal Office is like allowing illegal things to persist at City Hall.
If this is the case, then Leonardia must stop projecting himself as a righteous or morally upright City leader because Zamora's case is one thing that would entirely ruin the mayor's image - being a man and a leader who cannot impose discipline.
