Editorial: Hail Inday

SALVACION "Inday" Espina-Varona is one typical media personality that Bacolod should be proud of.

Aside from being the daughter of most respected, seasoned journalist Rolando "Rolly" Espina, Inday now plays a very important role being currently the national directorate member and chairwoman of the Commission on External Affair of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines.

Pinoy Votes: Sun.Star Election 2007 Coverage

In the light of the upcoming May 14 elections, the small-but-terrible Inday is seen all over the country conducting seminars on accurate, impartial and responsible election reporting.

Bacolod media themselves, were under In without day's professional tutelage on how to cover political stories fear and favor.

Inday stressed that among the most important elements of good journalism is accuracy.

Among the attendees in the recent NJUP Election Reporting Seminar here in Bacolod City, no one reported or even commented something bad against Inday.

Instead almost everyone hailed and thanked her for the time, perseverance and dedication in imparting knowledge on precise reporting during elections.

After all, Inday's mission in life being a journalist is neither to attain the highest position in an entity nor aim for fame and glory.

Rather, we saw her commitment to effect change in the media profession especially this election season.

So great to have this very, very petite lady yet full of inspiration to introduce media institutional reforms.

Thank you once again Inday.
