Monday, April 30, 2007 Servando keeps Palaro Badminton doubles crown
BACOLEÑA Nikki Therese Servando of Trinity Christian School teamed up with Dessa Mae Ariño to claim the elementary girls doubles badminton competition of the 2007 Palarong Pambansa in Koronadal City, South Cotabato during competitions held laast April 22-28.
Servando, who also took the Palaro doubles gold in Naga City last year representing Western Visayas, defeated the Region III pair of Jessa Mae Lagot and Jedalyn Paboada in the championship match played at the Sinach Avenue Badminton Court.
Servando and Ariño posted a 15-21, 21-16, 21-17, come-from-behind win.
The Grade 6 student of Trinity Christian School is a veteran of several regional and national championships and is currently a commercial endorser for consumer products.
Other medalists for Region VI (Western Visayas) were Joseph Adrian Diaz in elementary boys singles. He is a Grade 5 student of the St. Joseph School in Iloilo City and Diane Bibiano in elementary girls singles, bronze medalist from Cadiz City, Negros Occidental. (HCV)
