Friday, May 04, 2007 Bacolod sports forum set Saturday at BCC By Henry C. Villalva
REPRESENTATIVES from various sports organizations and local sports association in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are scheduled to gather and discuss legitimate sports issues during a Sports Forum scheduled on Saturday, May 5, 8:00 a.m., at the Newly Hall of Bacolod Christian Center.
The forum aims to thresh out and bring to light valid issues and concerns regarding local sports scene and propose solutions to problems, says BCC sports moderator and forum organizer Jerome Galunan.
"We believe now is the proper time to ventilate these valid sports issues and concerns since this is election campaign time and these issues must reach candidates running for different positions in the May 14 polls," Galunan pointed out.
"At the very least we hope that through this forum we will call the attention to all concerns and to make them understand the need for giving sports the priority it rightfully deserves since it is apparent that many of these candidates don't give a damn about local sports even if they do agree that this concerns the youth voters in our locality," he added.
The forum is co-sponsored by the Negros Press Club headed by its president Jun Julita and the Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (Scoop) Bacolod Chapter headed by George Liza.
The forum will also try to evaluate the sports program of Bacolod City and identity means of activating this program.
Galunan said they expect heads of local sports associations to attend the said gathering which is part of Bacolod Christian Center's youth and community outreach activity.
